Improvised musical heading for the West End

Showstopper! the improvised musical is heading for the West End after its stint in Edinburgh as past of the Scottish festival. The show sees a new musical improvised every night, in a huge challenge for the cast and creatives but huge fun for the audiences lucky enough to see the production. 501px-Lyric_Theatre_Apollo_Theatre_London_2011As an award-winning improvised musical show, Showstopper! will play its first West End run later this year with a ten-week engagement at the Apollo Theatre. The show, which sees a team of performers create musicals based on audience suggestions, will run from 24 September to 29 November 2015 and is expected to be a huge hit, considering the cast's talent and the entertainment of the audience. With no two shows the same, the anticipation is heightened with audiences unsure of what exactly they will see. To date audiences have seen Showstopper! be fast, funny and entertaining, with the team pulling off incredible shows nightly, with highly ambitious work. They create a real musical from scratch each night, rather than just displaying improvised material, but a full story with songs, stories and characters you can care about, a live band of incredible musicians, and spontaneous but seamless choreography. It seems London audiences are in for a treat when the show descends on the capital later this year, so must start thinking of their musical suggestions! Previous improvised musicals from the talented Showstopper! team include Emotional Baggage, set at Heathrow airport; Sweeney Cod, a love story centring on an ambitious fish and chip shop owner; and WhatsOnStage - The Musical. Created by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, the show team has been a much-loved staple of the Edinburgh Fringe programme for eight years.
